French Brittany Spaniel Puppies

FrenchBrittanyLitter.jpg

This week while I was in St. George for meetings I went to look at a litter of French Brittany puppies for sale. My friend that I bought Jake from had told me that his hunting buddy had a litter of French Brittanies. I’m a sucker for puppies of any kind but especially Britts and Shorthairs. This litter had 3 males (Orange/White, Black/White and a rare Liver Tri-Color) and 2 females (Tri-Color and Black/White). I am hoping to find a dog that is smaller, more mild-mannered and softer for easier training. Mostly so my children can have a positive experience with raising a dog. Currently they are all pretty much scared of Jake because of his hyper nature and his size.

The main problem is how to talk my wife into letting me buy two puppies because I still have my heart set on a Liver Female GSP puppy. But, my kids are wanting the smaller more biddable French Brittany. The puppy that I liked the best was the the orange and white male. He seemed to be pretty mellow and the most cuddly people lover of the bunch. The owner of the litter has named him Eeyore because of his easy-going nature. The puppies are only 4 weeks right now, so we’ll go back for a visit in a couple weeks and see what their personalities are like.

Here is a really good website I found for those people who are interested in buying a French Brittany Spaniel.

I can relate to the problem, I personally have 3 French Brittanys, 1 orange and white female, 1 black and white male and 1 liver tri female. I cant tell you what a pleasure it is to hunt with and train this marvolous breed. When purchasing a French Brittany, if you intend to hunt the dog, be shure its parent are proven hunters, as this dog does very well in the home people tend to not hunt their dogs and breed them as hunting dogs. All my dogs are proven hunters and easy to train. I’m having a litter that will be ready this spring if intrested I can send you video and pictures of this years hunt.
    It was nice chatting.

My husband and I are very interested in the French Brittany….Right now we have a 13 year old Mini Aussie and love her dearly but she is overly protective of us and we would like our next canine friend to be of a more calmer, tolerant nature to adults, dogs and children….
We are not hunters and live in Southern California…..we would certainly make any dog we have a integral part of our family and provide many adventures and walks for the dog outside our home area…. do you feel this type of dog would be suitable for us??

A french brittany would be a good choice. They make great house pets and family members. My friend bought for hunting and it has turned into the family favorite. More of a lap dog, very good with people.

I bought the little female tri-colored brittany you looked at in St. George, for my family for Christmas. I was surprised to see the picture here as I was surfing the internet. I have a 9 year old female orange and white brittany, and hope to get back into training and hunting them more, now that I have a new project so to speak. I am following your progress with “Annie” as I am very interested in how her training progresses.

We have a litter of beautiful French Brittany pups. Five are still available: a liver tri female, a black and white male, and three black and orange tri-color males. The mother is an excellent hunter and retriever, and is also an affectionate, intelligent house pet. She has Calembour bloodlines and is related to the legandary Tausland’s Black Bart. The father is a handsome, good-natured tri-color and comes from Hunrunr and Purepoint breeding stock. The puppies will be eight weeks old on November 13.

Do the French Brittanys bred in the U.S. conform to the French Brittany or “Epagneul Bretons” bred in France? Does anyone know what these dogs should really look like and what the “breeders” in the U.S. are really breeding for? Are they looking to improve the breed? LET THE BUYER BEWARE!

My favourite Britt ever was a French Britt. – Loads of energy. My folks breed Britts in Ontario, (Southwest of Toronto). They have adults and pups avail. – http://www.downwindkennels.com Currently no French Britts, though. French Britts are less popular in Canada.

Please be certin the parents of the puppies you purchase have had their hips screened thru the O.F.A or Penn-Hip. Hip Dysplasia is an issue with the breed.
