		<description>Congrats on your new puppy. I truly enjoy my two german shorthaired pointers, what a fun breed. Obedience is the most important training. After that, then you can move on to live bird training.

I would recommend gettting a good dog training book. &quot;Gun Dog&quot; by Richard A. Wolters is really good, also anything by Bill Tarrant. You can find either on Amazon.com

I also recommend reading a lot on the forums like www.gundogforum.com or &lt;a href=&quot;http://bbs.pointingdogjournal.com/&quot; rel=&quot;nofollow&quot;&gt;http://bbs.pointingdogjournal.com/&lt;/a&gt;

Gun Dog Magazine and The Pointing Dog Journal are wonderful magazines for information.

Better yet, find someone to mentor you. Join a dog training club like NSTRA, NAVDHA or AKC Hunt Tests.

Puppy obedience classes are a great place to start.

Good luck with your new puppy.

All the best.
