Found good homes for all of these puppies. Thanks for the support and kind words regarding a difficult situation. I was able to help train one of the puppies. The one I saw is going to be a heck of nice bird dog. I have high hopes for the others. The important thing though is the placement in stable and caring homes. I just found your blog and am enjoying your posts. I am an avid duck and pheasant hunter. I have always been a lab guy and currently have a 5 yr old yellow lab that is an accomplished waterfowl dog and is coming into his own as an upland dog. I have hunted with friends that own brittanies, english pointers and gsp’s. I would like to get a pointer to complement my lab for upland hunting. I want a strong pointer that will also retrieve. I don’t want a dog that is real far ranging. The dog will also be a family companion and socialization is just as important as hunting for me. My top choices are english setter, english pointer, and brittany. I would value you opinion or recommendation on these breeds or others. I live in the Denver area and would love a recommendation of local breeders and trainers if you have any.

I would recommend doing a google search for “force fetching” or the “trained retrieve”. Dogs that struggle with retrieving sometimes can be trained to retrieve flawlessly. Puppies that are started the right way usually end up retrieving quite well. I use the First Steps training program that is a training DVD you can get from hideawaykennels.com. It is the very best method for getting your young dog started on the right path.

i’m from iran and also living north of iran exactly(gilan).i have two hunting dog and them race is english pointer and I have a big problem for training of them to bring the bird near me.please guid me.thanks

Puppies are always CUTE!!! Hopefully they will get the best of both worlds and be incredible hunting dogs! Mix dogs usually live longer and healthier lives anyway!
“Some” pretty awesome inventions were actually accidents. =)
